KEREN CYTTER, FRESSEN ODER FLIEGEN (FEASTING OR FLYING)

1 November

Keren Cytter has been commissioned to create a new work on the occasion of the festival ‘Fressen oder Fliegen (Feasting or Flying) Art into theatre – theatre into art’. Performed over sixteen days across three stages, the festival sets out to explore the reciprocal relationship between the visual arts and theatre, raising the question of the significance of mimesis as a methodology for describing processes that oscillate between representation and imitation. Made in collaboration with Susanne Sachsse, Cytter's installation entitled ‘Guilthouse; or the Great Fall of the Cartier Family’ contains a large wooden structure, lights, video projections, television, a cleaning lady and a mirror. Also on view is the artist’s digital video Der Spiegel (2007).

For the opening of the festival on November 1st, Hans Ulrich Obrist will be interviewing Keren Cytter as part of a public ‘Interview Marathon’ staged over a period of six hours.
