Tschabalala Self: Art Lovers

A major site-specific commission for the recently reopened New Museum's Facade Sculpture Program

Now on view, Self’s first large-scale public sculpture in New York, Art Lovers depicts a romantic scene of a couple embracing, mirroring the architectural ‘kiss point’ where the New Museum's SANAA-designed building meets it's OMA-designed expansion. Visible from the Bowery and Prince Street, the sculpture offers viewers a contemporary portrait of New York life and the personal connections enabled by public spaces such as museums.

Tschabalala Self: Art Lovers is curated by Massimiliano Gioni, Edlis Neeson Artistic Director and Madeline Weisburg, Assistant Curator.
