Wohnkomplex. Kunst und Leben im Plattenbau
Works by Sabine Moritz feature in Wohnkomplex. Kunst und Leben im Plattenbau at DAS MINSK Kunsthaus, Potsdam. The group exhibition, curated by Kito Nedo, examines the East German Plattenbau as both architectural heritage and cultural symbol, exploring its role as a living environment, a symbol of social utopias and a lens through which societal change is projected. Interweaving artistic practice with sociopolitical discourse, the exhibition reflects on how urban spaces shape social structures and ways of life.
Within this context, Sabine Moritz presents drawings and paintings from the early 1990s, created from memory of the Jena-Lobeda housing estate where she lived as a child. These works offer an unsentimental view of place and can be read as meditations not only on architecture, but also on the very act of remembering.
