Keren Cytter: Avalanche

Cytter's second exhibition at the gallery takes the form of a single work produced in Berlin and London. Entitled Avalanche (2011) Cytter's new work exists as a four-channel video installation presented across two sites. This new work plays with the specific geographic situation of the gallery and DRAF unfolding across the two spaces in defiance of the conventional solo exhibition format.

Born 1977 in Tel Aviv, Israel Cytter creates films, video installations and drawings, representing social realities through experimental modes of storytelling. Characterised by a non-linear, cyclical logic Cytter's films consist of multiple layers of images, conversation, monologue and narration systematically composed to undermine linguistic conventions and traditional interpretation schemata.

Solo exhibitions of Cytter's work include Kunstverein München (2011); Moderna Museet, Stockholm (2010); Hammer Museum, Los Angeles (2010), and X Initiative, New York (2009). Recent group exhibitions include 53rd International Art Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia (2009), The Generational: Younger than Jesus, New Museum, New York (2009), Television Delivers the People The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York (2008), Manifesta 7, Trentino (2008), and Yokohama Triennial, Yokohama (2008).

Cytter has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Absolut Art Award (2009); Ars Viva Prize(2008), and the Bâloise Art Prize (2006)

In 2008 Cytter formed the dance theatre group D.I.E. Now (Dance International Europe Now). She is also the author of four novels: The Man Who Climbed Up the Stairs of Life and Found Out They Were Cinema Seats (Lukas and Sternberg, New York - Berlin, 2005); The seven most exciting hours of Mr Trier's life in twenty four chapters (Witte de With, STUK & Sternberg, New York - Berlin, 2008); The Amazing True Story of Moshe Klinberg - A Media Star (onestar, Paris, 2009), and The White Diaries (CCA, 2010).
